Finally getting around to reading Fear Itself
All Awesome. No Limits. That's what the sign says.
Finally getting around to reading Fear Itself
Thor vs. Odin
Thor, buddy, you really gotta think twice about picking a fight with a guy called “The All-Father”
Thor and Odin having a father/son moment
When the gods flee, Earth is fucked
Odin: the only man who can bitch-slap Thor
IT’S RAINING NAZI ROBOTS!
Finally finished reading Fear Itself
Fear Itself was not a bad event, it just wasn’t great either
It has some good moments, like the beginning, when magic hammers start falling from space and sending eight of the most powerful heroes and villains on Earth on a rampage of utter destruction
But other moments, ones that should be iconic, like the shattering of Captain America’s shield, have no impact whatsoever and feel like last minute edits
The ending felt rushed and rather lackluster, as well. This ultimate angel of evil that has been destroying everything and everyone in his path falls surprisingly quick in the final battle, leaving the reader asking “Was that it?” Which is a pretty big letdown for an event that advertised itself as a battle royale.
But what it lacked in story, Fear Itself more than made up for it with some incredible artwork—unfortunately most of it is marred by the unnecessarily large banner ads on every cover.
There were some unexpected delights, like the adventures of the Monkey King in the Eighth City
Although my favorite series within this event was Journey Into Mystery, chronicling the schemes of young Loki as he tries to be good for a change
Legend has it that every now and then, after a really hard day in Hell, the Devil would stop in some random bar right at closing time and order a drink, looking to lift the troubles of the world from his shoulders. If the bartender listened patiently and survived the telling, the Devil would give him a tip, and he’d never tend another bar again.
